LOVE THY NEIGHBOR
These are neighborhood clusters for Cashiers United Methodist Church.  We currently have four neighborhoods:  Northeast, Southeast, Northwest, and Southwest.  The dividing line (coordinate) for these neighborhoods is the crossroads in town.  There are shepherds for each neighborhood that organize activities for the neighborhood and help with bereavement needs of members within their neighborhood.

Purpose
"To gather the whole community of disciples" (Acts 6:2) of the Cashiers United Methodist Church into four neighborhoods geographically (with the crossroads being the division) to share the Good News of Jesus Christ by caring for the spiritual and physical needs of our communities.

Shepherds
"Choose seven persons of good standing, full of the Spirit and of wisdom" (Acts 6:3) as Shepherds of the neighborhoods..."Seven chosen to serve!" (1) as a community contact person, (2) as an encourager and organizer (3) as a flock tender

Goals
To call and care for other's needs during times of illness, hospitalization, bereavement, etc.
To call and care for other's needs during family concerns

To reach out to shut-ins by calling, visiting, or sending notes of cheer
To maintain an e-mail chain for prayer concerns and church information
To advise the church office of concerns in the community
To provide a community contact for new residents and visitors
To celebrate together with a fellowship meal quarterly or semi-annually
To nurture others in Christ through Bible studies
To nurture others in Christ through prayer groups and support groups.
