Welcome to Cashiers United Methodist Church Website.
We hope you will find us to be a warm, inviting, and spirit-filled congregation.
Whether you have just moved to the Cashiers area or have lived here all your life,
we'd love to have you in our faith community.  Please click on the various links to the left and below
to find more information about areas of interest to you.
Ash Wednesday service is on Wednesday, March 6th at 6:15 p.m.  Our regular Wednesday fellowship meal is at 5:30 p.m.  Everyone is welcomed to join us for dinner but please contact the church office at 743-5298 or cumcsecretary1@gmail.com for reservations by Tuesday, March 5th as Chef David will need a head count.
College Scholarship Program - We will again be offering limited one-time-only scholarships for students entering college.  The deadline to get the application to the church is Friday, April 5th.  Click here for more information and to download an application.
A Way Forward for The United Methodist Church
The Council of Bishops has called a special session of the General Conference of The United Methodist Church to be held February 23 - 26, 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri.  The purpose will be to receive and act on a report from the Commission on A Way Forward, comprised of 32 lay and clergy members who were appointed to examine paragraphs in The Book of Discipline concerning human sexuality and to propose changes for the church regarding marriage ceremonies and ordination.   A summary of the three options that will be voted upon by all UMC General Conference delegates (both US and international) is available here.  Please be in prayer for our denomination.
Upcoming Opportunities
Cashiers Community Chorus will rehearse for their Lenten cantata on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. at CUMC beginning on February 28th.  The cantata will be performed on Sunday, April 14th at 2 pm.  No tryouts - just a love of singing to be a part of this group.  Betty Morris is the director and Bryan Heller the accompanist.  What a wonderful way to journey through Lent by being a part of this group.
Volunteers are needed for two of our children's programs:  for Godly Play, our Sunday Children's Church program, contact Diana Parker at 828-508-1700 or dianaparker0829@hotmail.com  and for Kreative Kidz Zone, our Wednesday after-school children's program, contact Julia Boeve at 828-743-5298 or cumckkz@gmail.com.
Kreative Kidz Zone (KKZ) is back in swing for the winter-spring session.  This after-school program features various fine arts activities throughout each session: art of movement and dance, music, arts and crafts, art of construction, art of gardening, art of flight, and a devotion each week.  We also have had some visitors come and share about their animals as the Humane Society and Highlands Biological Foundation. Click here to download a registration form to return to the church.  We pick up from both schools and can return children to the Boys & Girls Club afterwards if needed.  Should you have any questions, please contact Julia Boeve, KKZ Coordinator at 743-5298 or cumckkz@gmail.com.
