Ministry Opportunities 2010

 

NURTURE MINISTRY

Responsible for Christian growth, care and development in our church.
Co-Chairs: Kathy Bethea and Jeannie Cahill
 
Love Thy Neighbor (a part of our Nurture Ministry)
Opportunity to provide meals to families in times of bereavement, illness, recovery from surgery, or in difficult times. Visit shut-ins and those in the hospital and provide transportation when needed. Provide opportunities to know one’s neighbors through fellowship, small group studies, and prayer.

COMMUNICATIONS MINISTRY

Provide oversight for planning, development and implementation of flyers, brochures, advertising, media relations and Internet communication, external and internal communications, posters, bulletin boards, displays and signs on property. Promote communication within the church among members and outwardly to the community.

MISSIONS MINISTRY

Responsible for mission and outreach to local, regional, and foreign communities, in both hands-on service and planning. Opportunities include sorting and delivery of Christmas gifts to needy families, helping at our community food bank, helping with ongoing outreach to local families, and helping with various community activities and mission/building projects.

EVANGELISM MINISTRY

Proclaims the good news of what God has done through Jesus Christ in our lives and in the church. Our goal is spiritual renewal in our church family and community at large.  Opportunities to get involved include coordinating coffee hour fellowship, writing notes to visitors, greeting visitors at different activities in our church (i.e. dinners, programs and community outreach).

ADULT MINISTRIES

Responsible for providing opportunities for continued spiritual development and fellowship for adults in regard to programs, classes, and special events.

CHILDREN, YOUTH and FAMILIES

Responsible for all areas of faith formation for our children, youth and families in addition to creating fellowship opportunities for them. To promote and nurture the spiritual growth of our children and youth by getting involved as a teacher, co-teacher, assistant or substitute teacher for Children’s Church, Vacation Bible School, Wonderful Wednesdays, Youth program, or as a nursery worker. Opportunities also available for family fellowship and small group gatherings.

TRUSTEES

Responsible for the stewardship of the church facilities, parsonage and surrounding grounds. Opportunity to help with clean-up days and special maintenance projects and needs.

WORSHIP MINISTRY

Responsible for supporting the pastor in planning and ordering of worship. This includes Altar Guild, ushers, greeters, choir, acolytes, lay readers, communion stewards, and audio/visual team.

PRAYER MINISTRY

Responsible for providing opportunities for prayer and meditation for our church family and the community at large. Opportunities include Prayer and Healing Service on Tuesdays, and committing to the prayer needs and concern of this congregation.

MOTHER’S MORNING OUT

Provides a structured and loving environment for the Christian development of pre-school children and a “time out” opportunity for mothers of small children.
