Worship Opportunities

Sunday mornings provide two opportunities for traditional worship services, one at 8:30 (May through October) and the other at 11:00 (all year).  We provide an opportunity for fellowship at our Coffee in the Commons from 9:30-11:00 a.m. year around in addition to Sunday School classes for adults and children. Godly Play (Children's Church) for 3 year old - 2nd grade is a hands-on Bible curriculum provided during the 11:00 service.  The children begin in church and leave with their leaders following the Children's Sermon.  Older children (3rd - 6th grades) have the opportunity to meet during this time for a program "Learning to Use My Bible."  Clipboards with age appropriate activities is offered to children wishing to remain in "big church".   A nursery is provided for little ones during the 11:00 service.

Are you, or someone you know, in need of prayer?  Join us for our Service of Prayer and Healing on Tuesdays at 12:00 Noon.  This service is open to anyone who is in need of prayer for him/herself, a friend or family member, or intercessory prayers. Annointing by the pastor is available and the service concludes with Holy Communion.  Join us on Tuesdays for a time of quiet reflection, prayer, and to feel the presence of God's Spirit.

MUSIC
Contact Betty Morris, Director of Music at BLMorris1201@gmail.com or 743-5298 with questions or to sign up for any of the following music opportunities:

The Adult Choir, also called the Chancel Choir, is open to all adults.  This choir provides special music during worship services on Sundays in addition to leading all the hymns and other service music for the day.  Choir rehearsal is on Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m.

The Bell Choir is for any youth or adult who enjoys music but may not sing or play an instrument. They meet on Mondays at 2:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The minimum requirement is that you have one or two hands and that you can count to 4 and sometimes 6. Come and join the fun!

The CUMC Children's Choir is for children in grades 3 - 7 and offers an opportunity for youngsters to learn about music: how to read music, rhythms, how to sing, theory, and more.  They are always learning new anthems that they perform in worship from time to time. They practice at 4:00 on Thursdays.  Transportation is provided from Blue Ridge and Summit schools as well as the Boys and Girls Club of the Plateau.

Cashiers Community Choir is for adults who enjoy singing.  You do not have to be a member of this or any church to sing with us.  We have three performances during the year - a Lenten cantata, a summer fun concert, and a Christmas cantata.  There are no tryouts.  Contact Betty Morris to get a schedule of rehearsal times for each performance.  You do not have to participate in all three of the performances or any to join this group.  Join us just for practice if that is what you would prefer.

The Children's Chorus of the Plateau is for children in grades K - 7th.  The group is divided into K-2nd grade and 3rd - 7th grade for practice.  When they are not practicing, they are either enjoying playtime or working in the community garden.  This choir, under the direction of Betty Morris and Judy Gray, joins with the Highlands chorus for certain practices and performances. Community
